A virtual power plant (VPP) is an advanced energy management system that integrates distributed energy resources such as solar and wind power generation facilities, as well as energy storage devices and controllable loads, to achieve efficient coordination and optimized management of energy. By utilizing advanced information technology and communication methods, VPPs connect numerous dispersed energy resources into a cohesive whole, akin to a "virtual" power station.
Integrated energy systems represent an efficient and intelligent approach to energy management. They integrate various forms of energy, including traditional sources such as coal, oil, and natural gas, as well as new sources like solar, wind, and hydro power. Advanced technological means and intelligent management platforms enable collaborative optimization and complementary use between different energy sources.
It consists of distributed power sources, energy storage devices, energy conversion devices, protection devices, and loads, usually distributed in smaller geographical areas. Distributed power sources include renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and biomass, as well as traditional energy sources such as small gas turbines and diesel generators.
